At Social F+B,
We Take Pride in
Being a strategy-led, hands-on hospitality design agency. Our mission goes beyond traditional F&B design; we are dedicated to crafting exceptional experiences across retail, drinking, dining, and event spaces. We understand that designing a retail venue involves more than aesthetics. It requires a deep understanding of consumer behaviour, optimisation of spatial layouts for flow and efficiency, and aligning design decisions with the brand’s unique identity and objectives.
Butcher Box is a gourmet butchery offering premium meats, sausages, and wild seafood. Entrusted with elevating the design of their second outlet in Robertson Quay, we aimed to preserve its core DNA while introducing a fresh and inviting atmosphere. The location occupies a pre-existing site that formerly housed another business.
We began the project with a thorough location and site analysis to gain a holistic understanding of the space’s accessibility, visibility, potential foot traffic along the promenade, and the local residential community. This analysis informed our interior design strategy for Butcher Box, resulting in a design that not only introduced a fresh new look but also incorporated highly functional features.
Our Design Strategy
Led to:
New Facade Feature:
By understanding the accessibility and visibility of the space, we identified several issues, including poor visibility and limited access points. To address this, we redesigned the facade with gentle curves that intuitively guide guests into the store.
Engaging Retail Experience:
Through our analysis of the brand DNA and target market, we recognised the need to create a retail experience that transcends transactions. We optimised the spatial flow to provide a comfortable shopping experience while enabling staff to deliver efficient service. Various immersive design elements were integrated into the space, such as a butcher’s block that serves dual purposes: facilitating a seamless checkout experience and serving as a strategic display for feature products.
Immersive Brand Touch Points:
Incorporating brand elements within the retail setting was crucial for differentiating Butcher Box from competitors and strengthening its identity. We tastefully transformed their branding into design features throughout the space. Branded mosaic flooring and tiles greet guests upon entry, while logos etched on glass windows and walls ensure high visibility. A dry aging display window was also incorporated, offering passersby a glimpse of what Butcher Box offers, creating a visually engaging storytelling moment.
